Indian and the banker

An old Native American wanted a loan for $500.

The banker pulled out the loan application.
“What are you going to do with the money?” he asks the Indian.

“Buy Silver, make jewelry, and sell it,” was the response.

“What have you got for collateral?”

“Don’t know collateral,” replied the Indian

“Well that’s something of value that would cover the cost of the loan.
“Have you got any vehicles?”

“Yes.  1949 Chevy pickup,” replied the Indian

The banker shook his head, “How about livestock?”

“Yes, I have a horse,” replied the Indian

“How old is it?” the banker asks.

“Don’t know, has no teeth,” replies the Indian

Finally the banker decided to make the $500 loan.

Several weeks later the old man was back in the bank.
He pulled out a roll of bills, “Here to pay.” he said.
He then handed the banker the money to pay his loan off.

“What are you going to do with the rest of that money?” the banker asks.

“Put in hogan”, replied the Indian

“Why don’t you deposit it in my bank,” the banker asked.

“Don’t know deposit,” replied the Indian

“You put the money in our bank and we take care of it for you.
Whenever you want to use it, you can withdraw it.”

The old Indian leaned across the desk and asks the banker…
“What you got for collateral?”

LED lights to study the brain

TBI survivro extraordinaire

An emerging brain-scan technology called diffuse optical tomography ( DOT  ) can determine which part of the brain does more work than another by shining dozens of LED lights on a patient’s head to detect brain-tissue color changes. DOT has already been used on small areas of the brain, but the technology’s latest version can now scan two-thirds of the brain, Washington Univ. in St. Louis researchers said.

Great day at Delray Medical for trauma awarenss day

Fantastic turn out at Delray Medical from first responders, nurses, doctors, medical staff, trauma survivors friends, family and state representatives. There were some awesome stories of inspiration that unfortunately we could not fit all on this video. Sorry to those, it was a technical problem 🙁  What a wonderful facility with so many  great people that work there. Check out the video…

Do you know PBA is not PDA?

Hello everyone,

Jessica Toresco here “TBI” survivor extraordinare. How is everyone doing? Hopefully everyone is doing faboulus. So I had been doing some investigating, considering I have  “tbi” as well. A lot of the information made me realize how lucky I am, BOY, am I thankful to be alive.

I found out that more than half of “TBI” survivors according to the BIAA (Brain Injury Association of America) have additional neurological conditions like PBA (pseudobulbar). For those of you that don’t know PBA causes occasional outburst of laughing or crying, similar to turrets.

This could be very embarrassing because a TBI survivor may blurt out very inappropriate things like ” Shut the front Door” (if you get my drift) in the middle of a supermarket. You can just imagine what people must think.

Its bad enough everyone stares at us, but to also blurt out involuntary shenanigans with no filter just adds to the frustration and outlook of everyday life.

Basically long story short. BIAA conducted a survey for brain injury survivors and their care givers, and more than 80% experiance episodes of PBA.

I guess I am that 20% that was blessed. That’s why i am doing this to try to help the other percentile. To be honest, for kicks I just blurt stuff out to see peoples reaction – its pretty funny.

So this was our wake up call. In order to see the rainbow & enjoy the flowers. You must go through the crazy forest of life first.

If you would like to read more about PBA, here is a link to the article. Check it out and spread the word thunderbird.

With that being said buckle up & enjoy the ride.

Thought of the Day

Hello everyone,heart

Jessica Toresco here just to give some words of encouragement. Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot. Where there is a will there is a way. God has kept us here for a reason, and it is our job to find what that reason is. At the same time enjoy the ride of life on the way.

Some people may think of tbi survivors as a tad different.

Place your right hand on your chest. You feel that? Yes, I have one too & so do you. The only thing that makes us a little different is my brain was shaken up & I took a long nap 🙂 But since then I’ve woken up and embraced life in every way possible.

I have come to the conclusion that life is way to short to dwell on anything out of your control. So with that being said be the change you want to see. Everyone have a fantastic day.xoxo tbi thought of the day
